Carl Richter House

In 1868, Carl Richter bought this property for $2200 from Emanuel Rzeppa. Solidly constructed of limestone, with walls 18 inches thick, it is believed to have been built in the 1850s. Richter may have manufactured Civil War uniforms here during the Civil War. The house served as a residence and dry goods store from 1868 to 1911, and as the Gay 90’s Restaurant in 1968.
