San Fernando Cathedral

The Spanish crown established this site in 1731 for the Canary Islanders, who began construction of the parish church in 1737.
The present Gothic Revival style addition on the front façade enlarged the original Spanish Colonial Church in the mid 19th century. Architects exposed and restored the oldest portion of the church, the apse and sanctuary, in 1977. The Cathedral completed a full exterior and interior renovation in 2003.
