German English School, 1859 - 1869

Founded in 1859 to educate children of local German intellectuals, the school assured fluency in English and German to its students. It operated until the 1890s, and the buildings later served a variety of additional educational purposes. The complex now functions as a conference and meeting facility. A commemorative marker on the north building commemorates the site’s history.
