Clifford Bldg, 1893

This Romanesque Revival style building with its round tower was built for prominent attorney Charles H. Clifford. The upper levels have been used as artist studios, offices, and apartments.
The river-level once housed Robert Hugman’s architecture office and, later, an early River Walk restaurant. The replicated “R. H. H. Hugman AIA Architect” signage at the lower level was installed in the late 1970s, when Hugman received official recognition for his River Walk design.
